Pain

I sat motionless
in the final moments of the summer sun's glow
and watched
one tiny person after another
paddle,
stand,
glide along a wave
paddle,
stand,
glide along a wave,
paddle,
stand,
glide along a wave.
I never felt more alone.
I never felt more disconnected.
I thought how silly and pointless
it all seemed.
My board lifeless and
dry
beside me on the sand.
I thought of all those times I had fought
and screamed
and refused that tube
down my nose and into my stomach
and I thought about how
right now,
given the option
I may just take it.
With my whole heart I hope you found this poem useful and inspiring.

Become Great. Live Great.
Bonnie.
