Ready, Now: Your Guide to Doing Recovery from Anorexia Different this Time

Personal and professional insight into what it truly takes to recover.

Rated 5 stars on

A Story of Struggle & Freedom

This book offers a rich and at times heartbreaking insight into the realities of living with and recovering from anorexia nervosa. Within the pages I share an honest reflection on the fifteen years I struggled to break free from anorexia and the whole new way of thinking about eating disorders that eventually led to my full recovery. Within the pages I dive deep into what worked, what didn’t and why. I wrote this book for anyone who feels trapped in an eating disorder despite knowing you want to break free.

Ready, Now isn’t a clinical manual or a rigid step-by-step plan. Instead, it is an un-sugarcoated human story weaved with professional knowledge which at its core is focused on helping others break free. Ready, Now explores the mental and physical changes you may experience while living with and going through recovery from anorexia. This is with the intention of providing answers and certainty in a time where it can feel like there is a stark lack of both. I also explore the emotional and subconscious shifts that change everything, how to practically do the work of neural rewiring and ultimately learn to work with instead of against your mind. It is a book about becoming you in a world that can feel like it’s telling you that being you is not good enough.

Whether you’re early in your recovery or have experience with years of trying, have someone you love living with an eating disorder or you work in this area and are struggling to truly help your clients make meaningful change this book offers clarity into how recovery can be made possible in a way that feels authentic, empowering and complete.

Why Readers Find this Book Helpful

It Speaks to the Reality of Eating Disorders

Instead of offering clichés or oversimplified advice, the book reflects the emotional and mental patterns people actually struggle with. It captures the fear, the exhaustion, and the constant pressure in a way readers say feels true to their own experience.

It Explains Why Change Can Feel So Hard

The book explores the role of the subconscious mind, emotional safety, and internal conflict. Helping readers understand one of the frustrating features of living with anorexia - insight but inability to change - and why recovery isn't simply about wanting it desperately and "trying harder" and where instead to focus your energy to truly move from treading water to meaningful change.

It Offers Genuine Hope Without False Promises

Rather than presenting recovery as mystical and cloaked in hope and chance Bonnie shares the deeper shifts that help people become unstuck, take the driver's seat of their own lives and move forward no matter how long or how hard they've tried before.

Readers often say Ready, Now while confronting and at times challenging is a relief to read - both knowing that Bonnie and others have come from being the desperate, trapped, lost and alone patients in the hospital bed to fully recovered living meaningful lives, that recovery is hard even when you want it and there are practical things you can do beyond hope and wish for a better future.

It Helps You See Your Experience Differently

By sharing personal stories alongside reflective insights, the book helps readers recognise patterns, understand their reactions, and feel a deeper sense of clarity about what’s happening inside their minds and most importantly what they can do to change.

Hear From Our Readers

Readers often describe Ready, Now as being the first eating disorder recovery book they've read with substance. A book that describes so clearly what anorexia is (and is not). Going a step further by offering truthful insight into the mind of someone caught in the illness all steeped in the conviction and calm knowledge of a warm professional whose mission is to help you break free and live a full life.

Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” ~ Rumi.

This is an extraordinary book that will help guide you or your loved one to a lasting recovery from anorexia nervosa.
The author Bonnie Killip has lived through the worst experiences of an eating disorder. As she explains: 'At thirteen, my body was shutting down. At fourteen, I was pulled out of school. At fifteen, I felt like the most alone person on the world'.

After a gruelling fifteen years of illness, however, Killip found her way to a full and flourishing recovery. In this book, she not only provides a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the physical, nutritional and psychological aspects of this illness, she shares the steps of her uniquely successful Two-Stage Model of Recovery. Killip not only draws on her own experiences as a previous sufferer, but on her knowedge and expertise as a qualified dietitian, hypnotherapist, NLP practitioner and life coach. The book is full of highly useful practical tips and pearls of wisdom that could only come from someone who has 'been there'. Highly recommended. A joy to read.

This book... excuse the French, but, is f***en brilliant 👏 and deserves 10 stars 🌟 I have read many eating disorders books and many been about completing disregarding the healing and recovery with self love practices that yes instill calm, but are still completing avoiding the recovery uncomfortable sensations that go with it. Love and light is all good and well yes, but when in the middle of the stages of eating disorders, keeping the 'selfcare' is just a way to say your doing the work without doing all the work. Bonnie's book is raw, real and yes, uncomfortable and challenging to read at times. It involves all the healing to be be recovered. That goes for eating alot more more and that is scary. Your Body may feel safe having bubble baths to calm nerves and instill peace, but at the core a malnourished body will still come out that bath and feel unsafe and under functioning.

Half way through book and gee...learnt so much already.

Bonnie your such a star 🌟

Excellent! A guide to Recovery from Anorexia with lived experience. Thought provoking and expertly written with the background and physiology of AN covered as well. Recommended for anyone who has a family member with Anorexia Nervosa, or those themselves working towards recovery.
